A Levels: Basic User
Al and A2 levels are for people just beginning to learn English.
If you are at one of these levels, you can:
- Understand and use basic phrases and sentences.
- Introduce yourself and ask simple questions about other people.
- Talk about simple, everyday topics.
- Write short, simple texts.
B Levels: Independent User
B1 and B2 levels are for people who can use English independently.
In this context, the word "independently" means that you can do things without help from others (you are able to use English without assistance). You can communicate in most everyday situations. You can talk about what you know, and ask questions when you don`t understand.
If you are at one of these levels, you can:
- Understand the main points of information on familiar topics that come up often at work, school, social circumstances, etc.
- Handle most things that might come up while travelling.
- Write clear, detailed text on a wide range of topics and explain points of view on different issues, describing the advantages and disadvantages.
C Levels: Proficient User
Cl and C2 levels are for people who can use English proficiently. The word "proficiently" means that you can use English as well as a native speaker.
If you are at one of these levels, you can:
- Understand a wide range of complex, longer texts and recognise implicit meaning.
- Express yourself fluently and naturally, without looking for words too much.
- Use English flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
- Write clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors, and literary techniques.
